0. The Most Wanted Tips

Description: Do you want to view your picture in the background of your desired folder in Windows XP? For doing this, some website offers you a software. But here is my solution to throw away those rubbish things.

1. Just Go to the Folder Option\View Menu. Now remove the Tick mark on the option 'Hide Extension for known File Types'. If the tick mark has been already removed then just go to the 2nd step.

2. Now in any folder create a new Text Document.

3. Rename the Text Document to 'Desktop.ini'. Here .ini is the File Extension.

4. Now Copy the text below as it appears exactly into the document named 'Desktop.ini'.

[ExtShellFolderViews]
{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}={BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}
[{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}]
ShellApi=890B12IP2L3O3B11
Attributes=0
IconArea_Image=Picture.jpg
IconArea_Text=0x000ff
[.ShellClassInfo]
IconFile=%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll
IconIndex=80

5. Save Desktop.ini.

6. Now Copy the picture into the folder where Desktop.ini is created any write the whole name of the picture with its extension after equation symbol in the 6th line 'IconArea_Image=', such as IconArea_Image=River.jpg.

7. Refresh!
8. Done.

Now see what happens!

1. COMMON DIALOGUE

Description: You can change the Common Dialogue Interface. When you browse to save, copy or open a file to do something with it, a small application appears like Explorer with limited option.

This is called Common Dialogue. To change the links on the left side

Go To:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Polices\Comdlg32

Create a new key under Comdlg32.
Rename it To : Placebar

Now Under the Placebar Key Create these REG_SZ Values :
Place0 = C:\Windows
Place1 = C:\
Place2 = Desktop
Place3 = D:\
Place4 = E:\
Place5 = F:\

I think you'll find this in some common website that provides XP Tricks And Tips but you should be interested to know how I've been able to find out this and those tricks...stay connected, I'll add how to know about the settings inside XP and invent new and newer tips for own use and enjoyment with your common intellingence.
